UPON
SHADOWS PRESENTS “THE GREAT SHADOW,” THE FIRST SINGLE FROM THE UPCOMING ALBUM GOLDEN
FLAME
Dark metal
duo Upon Shadows will release their new single, “The Great Shadow,” on October
18, 2026. The song is the first glimpse of Golden Flame, their upcoming
studio album, scheduled for release in 2027.
“The Great
Shadow” opens a new chapter in Upon Shadows’ musical and conceptual universe.
The song combines the duo’s characteristic darkness with a dense, immersive
atmosphere, while introducing some of the themes that will run throughout Golden
Flame: the pursuit of knowledge, the awakening of consciousness, rebellion,
and transformation.
Without
yet revealing the full concept behind the upcoming album, “The Great Shadow”
serves as a first gateway into a work in which symbolism, mythology, and
philosophical reflection will once again play a central role.
Speaking
about the meaning of the song, Tamara Picardo comments:
“The
Great Shadow is about the awakening of consciousness and, with it, the
inevitable rebellion; the pursuit of the most arcane and primordial forms of
knowledge, from a distinctly Luciferian perspective, without neglecting the
poetic dimension that constitutes a large part of the heart of Upon Shadows.
Musically,
it is pure darkness: dense, unpretentious, and true to our style.”
“The Great
Shadow” was composed by Tamara Picardo, who was also responsible for recording
and mixing. Natalia Arocena recorded the bass. Mastering was handled by Tony
Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden.
Founded in
Montevideo in 2002 by Tamara Picardo and Natalia Arocena, Upon Shadows creates
dark metal in which atmospheric, experimental, and ambient elements coexist
with a strong conceptual and poetic identity. Over more than two decades, their
work has explored darkness, the human condition, knowledge, and symbolism from
a deeply personal perspective.
“The Great
Shadow” release date: October 18, 2026, on Spotify, Bandcamp, and all
major digital platforms.
Golden
Flame will be
released in 2027.
